As a consumer of academic books, I try to buy directly from the publisher when possible.  My attitude is that this keeps my money out of the hands of middlemen, and therefore helps to support the production of more worthy titles, which I can buy in the future.  The following list of links is quite brief now, but it will gradually expand; it focuses on publishers that most people in the States might not think about ordering from directly, and hence does not include major academic presses like Chicago, Oxford, Cambridge, etc.
